We are on our Fall schedule and open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

By Cathy Hough, general manager & buyer

You’re sure to have fun at our Fall Festival, in progress now. Bring the kids in to have great fun picking out just the right pumpkin for carving. Dress them in costume (or not) to take  charming photos in our pumpkin patch!

We get lots of visitors to our pumpkin patch (above)! This black cat wandered in on its own and had to check out all of our pumpkins!

We’ve created spaces for kids to pose for photos or for folks to just sit and relax in the patch (above)! The scarecrows will certainly be happy to welcome visitors to the pumpkin patch!

Fall is a time for hearth and home. It is also the best time of the year for planting. Give your plants the best start possible! Ask Darla and Steve what you need to have to make sure your plants thrive! They can give you expert guidance on soil preparation, soil amendments, and much more.

A garden arbor/trellis (above) is perfect for plants that like to climb, such as roses and vines. Bougainvillea is another great climber as is Clematis (below).

We stock a large selection of vines (below, just one of our many) and you’re sure to find the right one that has the visual appeal you desire and meets your growing conditions.

Another interesting plant that brings beauty and intrigue to a landscape is Plumeria (below). With its unusual looking trunk and vibrant green leaves, Plumeria also produces a beautiful, fragrant flower (below) that is used to make leis.

We have Plumeria (above) in practically every size imaginable (above), including a large boxed specimen. We also have a selection of tropical wall art (above). And remember, we can help you plant any sort of garden you want, from tropical to classic to natives to waterwise to succulents.

We have an assortment of plants that are perfect for our upcoming fall/winter seasons (above). In coastal California we have an amazing variety of plants available to us that grow well year-round. Cool-weather plants, including vegetables and herbs, should be planted now to maximize their growth.

It’s time to come in to select your fall decor from our annual assortment. Our pumpkin patch (below) is the place for photos as well as for finding just the right pumpkin. Kids have lots of fun each year in our pumpkin patch where there’s a nice assortment of pumpkins to select from, including Trickster, Jack, Tiger,  and mini pumpkins.

What would a pumpkin patch be without a scarecrow (above)! Our patch includes several. Be sure to step inside our store to see our fall home decor items (below).

Fall gives us the opportunity to create new vignettes in our home and garden. Soothing green plants sparked by orange pumpkins, gourds, corn husks and other fall-themed decor can cast a magical spell (below).

Fall is also the best time for planting and our plant selection is among the best around. Ask Steve or Darla for assistance.

By Cathy Hough, general manager & buyer

Water conservation is very important and we wanted to let Los Angeles residents know their new watering schedule. Odd-numbered addresses can water Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Even-numbered addresses can water Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Watering hours are before 9 a.m. and after 4 p.m. If you’d like additional info, visit www.ladwp.com or call 1-800-DIAL DWP.

The Marina del Rey Garden Center is committed to helping you conserve water so stop in today to see all of the waterwise plant choices you have. Darla and Steve are available to answer your questions.

We offer a large selection of dynamic and intriguing succulents and cacti. These low-maintenance, fire-retardant plants require very little water and come in fascinating geometric shapes and unusual colors.

We’re also known for stocking a large number of natives, California and otherwise. Creative gardeners are making excellent use of succulents, cacti and natives, all in the same garden (below).

The Manhattan Beach home below uses succulents, ornamental grasses and the Australian native, Kangaroo Paws to create a lush, breeze-blown feel.

Succulents make a good focal point and are part of a garden that includes many other interesting plants (below).

Succulents and natives make good garden partners because they have similar water requirements. We have everything you need to plant a waterwise garden. Ask Darla or Steve to point you in the right direction so that you don’t miss any of our waterwise plants.

Did you know that the best known succulents are cacti and that virtually all cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti?

Succulents also make stunning statements planted in containers. We offer our own custom pre-planted designs. Or, you can choose the plant and pot and we will plant it for you.

Our container selection is second to none so you’re sure to find what you’re in search of. We carry terra cotta, Asian ceramics, talavera, wood, glazed and a host of unusual containers.

Talavera pottery (below) is widely appreciated and we have some unusual pieces. Talavera is a type of majolica earthenware, a milky white, glazed type of ceramic.
Fall is the best time of year for planting so stop in to get some inspiration from our 2+ acres of plants, fountains, containers, statuary and more!

The property (below) has created a small Japanese garden aside its driveway and a walkway with topiary, a Japanese Maple and Camellia. Pebbles and statues add to its tranquil effect.

As we move from summer to fall, it’s time to make plans to plant since fall presents the most favorable conditions for planting. Australian Tea Trees (below, effectively covering a pole) are beginning to bloom and come in white, pink and burgundy. Stop in to see our selection.

(Below) Papyrus, Plumeria and Flax create an attractive garden alongside a house and are joined by bedding plants that can be changed out seasonally or more frequently to create new looks.

(Below) This Manhattan Beach property mixes Succulents and Ornamental Grasses that line up under Papyrus, Palms and Kangaroo Paws to create a fascinating landscape.

The Redondo Beach home (below) appealingly mixes Ornamental Grasses with Australian Tea Trees, now in bloom against the wall, Flax, Rosemary and other plants.

Ornamental Grasses are quite popular. We offer a huge selection. (Below) Ornamental Grasses blend nicely with an attractive brick pathway and planters.
