Natural and Organic Soils, Planting Mix and Mulch for Your Plants and Garden

Plants thrive under the right conditions so it’s important to give them the best nutrients. We take great pride in offering the soils you need to give them a healthy start and to keep them healthy, happy and thriving.

Ask one of our design team experts to help you select the appropriate soil builder, soil conditioner, potting soil, planting mix or mulch.

Bumper CropBumper Crop is an organic blend of composted fir bark and forest humus fortified with 15% chicken manure, worm castings, bat guano and kelp meal. It is pH balanced with dolomite and oyster shell lime.

It is an excellent all-purpose, pre-fertilized planting and garden soil amendment and excels as a nutrient rich top dressing and mulch.

Ocean Forest® Potting Soil

Ocean Forest

Good things from the earth and sea are contained in Ocean Forest®, the ultimate potting soil—everything your plants need, in one bag.

Ocean Forest® is a powerhouse blend of premium earthworm castings, bat guano, and sea-going fish and crab meal. Composted forest humus, sandy loam, and sphagnum peat moss give Ocean Forest® its light, aerated texture.

Start with Ocean Forest® and watch your plants come alive!

Garden tip: Perfect for containers and ready to use right out of the bag. Ocean Forest® is pH adjusted at 6.3 to 6.8 to allow for optimum fertilizer uptake.

Worm Gold PlusIt has been known for more than 100 years that plants can show improved growth when worm castings are applied. Flowers grow bigger and brighter colors, vegetables grow larger and are better tasting.

With worm castings, orchards produce more fruit and nuts with better taste, and vineyards produce more fruit and higher quality wine.

These effects of worm castings have been well documented in the published literature and Wormgold  Plus® will get the job done in your garden.

Gardeners GoldGardener’s Gold Potting Soil is an organic blend of finely screened, composted fir bark fines, worm castings, real topsoil, redwood peat moss, chicken manure and sand. It is pH balanced with dolomite and oyster shell limes.

Gardener’s Gold is rich in long-lasting plant nutrients, and is a water-saving formula that provides excellent drainage.
Gardener’s Gold is designed for use with all indoor or outdoor container plants.

Uni-Gro® Premium Cactus Mix

Cactus MixUni-Gro® Premium Cactus Mix is a specially formulated potting soil designed to meet the unique needs of cacti and other succulents. It is uniformly blended for consistency and features high drainage factors with low moisture retention.

Black ForestBlack Forest is an organic blend of composted and screened forest humus (redwood and fir bark).

It is a premium soil conditioner for roses, vegetables and lawns, and is fortified with iron and nitrogen but will not deplete soil of pre-existing nitrogen like untreated products.
Black Forest loosens hard, compacted soils to improve drainage and increases moisture retention.

Acid MixMaster Nursery Acid Planting Mix is formulated for all acid-loving plants, and contains all organic long-lasting ingredients to improve soil porosity and promote drainage.

Use it as a soil amendment in beds or outdoor containers—or as a mulch.

Cocoa Mulch

This product is the real deal: Made from the shell of cocoa beans during the roasting process, cocoa shell is then recycled into an outstanding mulch.

Although it has been used for many years with traditional rose growers, aromatic cocoa shell can be used anywhere in your landscaping, garden or flower beds. It is a premium environmentally friendly cocoa shell.

The mulch is made from the attractive, dry outer shell of the cocoa bean, and flows easily, spreads evenly, stays in place, and never packs, which saves time, effort, and labor.

It is a recycled environmentally friendly product that provides great water retention without getting soggy.

Statuary for the Home and Garden

Statuary in the home and garden opens up additional ways you can enhance your living spaces.

Whether filling a spot in your curio cabinet or on furniture or the floor or positioning it in the garden to create vignettes, sitting spots or focal points, here are some basic guidelines to follow.

  • Consider the style of your home or garden. While you can get creative and mix things up a bit, try to keep pieces in context and envision how they will look surrounded by your objects and plants.
  • Use your creativity to select a piece or pieces that will enliven a space rather than fit into it if you want a bolder or more eclectic look.
  • Use multiple pieces and variety of styles together if they are not part of the same compositional frame.
  • Use statuary to give each part of your garden a different mood or feeling.
  • Personalize a space with statuary.
  • Use statuary as a strong design element that can inspire the theme, colors and shapes of the plants around it.

Here are some of the pieces that are available at the Marina del Rey Garden Center. Delivery service is available.
